Happy
New Year to you!
Trust in the Lord with
all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding Proverbs 3:5
The
new year is a time when most people reflect on their past and try to plan the future.
Reflecting on the past can bring about so many mixed emotions. As I look back,
I see joy, love, guilt, hurt, anger, pain, fatigue, excitement, hope, and frustration.
When something great happens, we hope we can re-live it, but when something not
so good happens people react in diverse ways. Some people throw it away and
decide to never look back. Others analyze and plan so that it never happens
again. Some put it in a jar, and keep it within sight to remind them not to
repeat that mistake. How do you react in a situation that is not so pleasant?
Do you let go or do you frame it? What lessons have you learned from your
experiences so far?
“Never
put all your eggs in one basket” is a popular saying and the more we go through
life, the more we find this saying true. Are there situations that you have
fully trusted and got disappointed? What are your regrets? Today God would like
to encourage us to put all our eggs in the basket that we are giving to him.
Each egg represents areas of our life. Finances, health, kids, husbands, wives,
possessions, etc. Are you giving him the egg to heal your leg pain, yet holding
on to the egg for a broken heart? He is the healer of everything! Lean not on
your own understanding, meaning don’t even try to analyze it. Your understanding
will not get you what you want, just give it to him, and let him give you rest,
peace, and a sound mind.
Prayer: Heavenly father, please given us the courage to place all our eggs in the
basket we are handing to you for this new year. Help us put our plans aside and
let you work in us in Jesus’ name. AMEN.
blesses me again
